Abstract
A novel method was developed for repeated blood collection under the unanesthetic and nonsurgical condition from the tail vein of rats. A 24-gauge needle catheter was inserted into the lateral tail vein, and the inner needle was pulled out just
as
it
was indwelling in the vein. The volume of blood sample collected was 0.4ml/rat/min in males and 0.3ml/rat/min in females respectively. Thus, this method developed in our laboratory was found to be an useful tool for collecting blood sample for
blood
chemistry and some hematology in the toxicity and pharmacokinetic studies using rats.
